Green DC: Anacostia Eco Bike Tour

Cultural Tourism DC is hosting over 80 walking and biking tours around DC this coming weekend. The tours cover a range of topics from Spies of Georgetown to Gay Capital Hill. One tour that caught my interest was a bike tour of Anacostia that highlighted environmentally friendly activities happening in Anacostia and environmental challenges the community faces.

Cultural Tourism DC's official description for the Anacostia Eco Bike Tour says, "This 15-mile bike tour is designed to raise awareness of projects that promote the health of those in the Anacostia Watershed, specifically Wards 2, 6, 7, and 8. Visit active service projects such as the Virginia Avenue Community Garden, Judy’s Solar Home, RiverSmart Home Ward 6, Kingman Island, Anacostia Park, Nationals Stadium, and the US DOT building. "

The bike tour runs from 9 AM to 2 PM. Participants should meet at the Starbucks at 200 M Street, SE across from the Navy Yard Metro Station. The ride is sponsored by Wholeness for Humanity and reservations are required. You can make your reservation by going
