Public Transportation - Save a dime, Save your life

Did you know that riding a bus is 79 times safer than riding in an automobile? Riding a train or subway is even safer! Of course using public transportation requires more exercise so you'll live longer too.

With the excruciating cost of gas these days (what is up with that anyways?) its time to re-consider public transportation. Public transportation is pretty cheap, much cheaper than a tank of gas per week. Its also great for the environment and for our national security.

First, public transportation saves about 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide annually (good for the earth). And, public transportation saves 1.4 billion gallons of gasoline annually (good for America).

So I am making a proposition. How about I make a special effort to take the bus every day next week and let you know of any funny or bizzarre things I see along the way, and you do the same. We'll compare notes to make public transportation a little more fun. Too bad we can't meet-up for a beer to tell our stories in person. We'll have plenty of extra beer money from all the gas we'll be saving!
